The audio component of media arts encompasses a wide variety of audio art practices including radio documentary, experimental audio art, electronic music, and sound for film. In addition to exposing students to basic foundations of audio recording, mixing and editing, the classes we offer encourage students to think of audio as an art form. As part of this experience, students are exposed to important sound-texts in the history ofthis rapidly expanding

field. Students who are interested in audio specifically may choose to supplement their course work in media arts with
electronic music and recording classes in the music and theater departments. he student of audio should come out of their USC experience with a well-rounded knowledge of the technology and the art of audio. The McMaster building has four "pods", each of which have their own mixing board and computer workstation.
